Petit Fire
Put a candle on your desk, and work feels a little warmer. Petit Fire brings that light to the corner of your screen.

A Mac menu bar app. Free, with no ads.
macOS 14 or later. Apple silicon and Intel.
Petit Fire runs on a Mac. Share the link with AirDrop, Messages or Mail, and open it there.
Click to light it. Click to put it out.
Along the edge of your screen, it draws the warm light of a small flame. Its soft sway keeps you company while you work.
The light on this page is drawn by the app's own shader, with the app's own numbers, and the same five settings. A dim room shows it best. The sound stays off until you turn it on.
Five settings
The menu holds one more switch, to open Petit Fire when you log in. That one is not a setting for the light.
The sound of a wooden wick
The sound is a real recording of a wooden-wick candle, released to the public domain by the person who recorded it. It is quiet enough to leave on during a meeting. Most of the time a candle makes no sound at all.
The app does not loop the recording. It plays a different stretch each time and crossfades between them, so nothing comes back on a fixed beat.
What is recorded
Petit Fire does not collect personal information of any kind, including your location and activity data. There are no third-party SDKs, events, analytics or identifiers, and your settings are stored only on your Mac and never sent anywhere.
Free
Every feature is free. About Petit Fire has two tips: a cup of coffee, or a bag of it. Buying one changes nothing in the app.
