Privacy Policy

Who this covers

This policy applies to Callulu, a macOS application, and to nowthy.com. Both are operated by nowthy, an independent developer.

What the app collects

Nothing. Callulu does not collect, store, or transmit personal information. Specifically, it does not record:

• what you work on, or the contents of your screen
• how long you worked, or whether you finished
• which cues you ran, or how often
• usage statistics, crash reports, or diagnostics
• your name, email address, or any identifier

There is no account and no sign-in. There is no history, no score, and no streak.

Network access

Callulu has no networking code of its own: no HTTP client, no sockets, no telemetry library, and no third-party SDKs. It never contacts nowthy, and nothing about how you use it is sent anywhere.

The Mac App Store edition is free, and About Callulu has two optional tips. The app asks Apple's App Store what the two tips cost, and a tip you choose to buy goes through Apple, the same way any purchase on a Mac does. nowthy is not part of that exchange and is told nothing: not your name, not your email address, not that you bought one. Apple's own privacy policy covers its side.

The direct edition, downloaded from nowthy, contains no purchase code at all. Every cue works from the first launch, and it makes no network connections of any kind.

Where your settings are stored

Your preferences (which cues are on, effect strength, screen position, accent color, sound, and launch at login) are stored in the standard macOS preferences area on your own Mac. They are never synced or uploaded. Deleting the app removes its behavior; the preference file can be removed with it.

Keyboard access

The version of Callulu sold on the Mac App Store does not read the keyboard at all.

A version distributed directly by nowthy can optionally run cues from keyboard shortcuts. That feature requires macOS Input Monitoring permission, which you grant explicitly and can revoke at any time. When it is enabled, the app observes key events only to detect the specific modifier-key patterns you assigned. Key events are read but never stored, logged, or transmitted, and the app cannot alter what you type; it registers as a listen-only observer. If you do not turn the feature on, no permission is requested and no key events are observed.

The website

nowthy.com is a static site hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It sets no cookies of its own, runs no analytics, and carries no advertising or tracking pixels. Cloudflare processes standard server request logs (such as IP address and user agent) as part of delivering and protecting the site; nowthy does not use these for any profiling and does not combine them with other data.

One third-party script is loaded: Gumroad's checkout script, from gumroad.com. It is what lets the download open on the page instead of sending you elsewhere. Loading it means Gumroad receives your IP address and browser details, and Gumroad may set its own cookies once the checkout opens. That is governed by Gumroad's privacy policy. Nothing else on the page reaches a third party, and the script is not present on this privacy page.

Purchases

Directly from nowthy. The download is processed by Gumroad, which acts as the seller of record, also when you enter 0 as the price. You give your details to Gumroad, not to nowthy: card details, if you pay, go to Gumroad's payment processor and nowthy never sees them. nowthy does receive, from Gumroad, the buyer's email address, the country used to determine tax, and the amount, which is what it takes to deliver the download, answer support, and handle refunds. That data stays in the Gumroad account and is not used for marketing or shared with anyone. See Gumroad's privacy policy for what Gumroad itself does with it.

Through the Mac App Store. A tip is handled entirely by Apple. nowthy never sees your payment details, and Apple provides only aggregate sales figures.

Email you send us

If you write to support@nowthy.com, that message and your address are kept only for as long as needed to answer you. They are not used for marketing and are not shared.

Children

Callulu is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Since no personal data is collected, there is nothing to access, correct, export, or delete. If you believe otherwise, or have any question about this policy, write to support@nowthy.com and we will answer.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page is updated. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
