What is different
- The tip is a page, not a purchase. About Petit Sky has one line, "A cup of coffee", which opens a page in your browser. The App Store version uses Apple's purchase sheet instead. Everything else is the same app.
- No App Store reviews, and no automatic updates. The app looks for a new version when it starts and once a day. When there is one, a small blue dot appears on the menu bar icon, and About Petit Sky shows a line that opens this page.
How to install
- Unzip the file.
- Move Petit Sky to your Applications folder.
- Open it. The app is signed and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it without a warning.
- Click the sun and moon in the menu bar to show the sky. Right-click it for the menu.
If Chrome blocks the download
Chrome sometimes marks a file it has not seen before as suspicious. That is Google's download reputation, not a check of the app itself. Click the download entry in Chrome and choose to keep it, or download with Safari. macOS checks the app's signature and Apple's notarization when you open it.

Requirements
macOS 26 or later, with Show menu bar background off (the default). Apple silicon and Intel.
Privacy
The same as the App Store version: no account, no analytics, no identifier of any kind. This version reads the current version number from nowthy.com when it starts and once a day. If you turn on Current weather, it asks Apple Weather for the weather where you are, at most once an hour, with your location rounded to about ten kilometres. Nothing about you or your settings is sent to nowthy. The full privacy policy applies.
