Privacy Policy

Petit Sky collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics, and no identifier of any kind. The app connects to the network for two purposes, both through Apple: to ask the App Store about the optional thank-you purchases, and, only if you turn Current weather on, to ask Apple Weather for the weather at your rough location. Nothing goes to a server run by nowthy. The direct-download edition for the EU has no purchases; when it starts, and once a day after that, it reads the current version number from nowthy.com.
Who this covers
This policy applies to Petit Sky, a macOS application published by nowthy, and to the pages under nowthy.com/petitsky/.
What the app collects
Nothing. Petit Sky has no account and no sign-in. It does not know who you are or what you work on. It contains no analytics library, no crash reporter, and no advertising framework. There is no identifier, no fingerprint, and no history.
Location and weather
Petit Sky draws the sun, the moon and the stars from your Mac's clock and time zone. For that it needs no location and no network. The time zone gives it a representative city, and the sky is computed on your Mac from there.
Current weather is off until you turn it on. When it is on, the app asks macOS for your location, rounds it to about ten kilometres (one tenth of a degree), and sends that rounded position to Apple's weather service (WeatherKit) to fetch the current conditions. It does so at most once an hour, at most 24 times a day, and only while the sky is on screen and the Mac is awake. The position is not stored beyond that request and is not sent anywhere else. Apple's handling of that request is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Turn Current weather off, or choose a weather yourself, and the app stops asking. You can also withdraw the location permission in System Settings at any time; the app then falls back to the weather you chose.
Purchases
The app makes one other kind of network connection: it asks the App Store what the optional thank-you items cost, and completes a purchase if you choose to make one. This uses Apple's StoreKit, so the request goes to Apple, not to us. We never see your payment details, and we receive no name, address, or email from a purchase. Buying changes nothing in the app; every feature is free.
The direct-download edition (offered in the EU, where the App Store version is not available) contains no purchases; its thank-you line opens a page in your browser instead. When it starts, and once a day while it runs, it reads a small file at nowthy.com/petitsky/version.json that holds the current version number, so it can put a small dot on the menu bar icon when a newer version exists. Check for updates in About Petit Sky reads the same file. That request carries no identifier and none of your settings. Cloudflare, which serves nowthy.com, processes standard server request logs for that request as described below.
If you download from the App Store, Apple may give us anonymous, aggregated sales and crash statistics. Those are Apple's reports, they identify nobody, and we cannot use them to reach you.
Where your settings are stored
Which weather is chosen, whether the sky follows the clock, whether the sun and moon are shown, and the other menu settings are stored on your Mac in the app's own preferences, and never leave it. Removing the app removes them.
The website
nowthy.com is served by Cloudflare Pages. Requests appear in ordinary server logs, which include an IP address and are retained by Cloudflare for a short period. We add no analytics tags, no cookies, and no third-party scripts.
